Hi neighbors,
The 4th of July Parade on Hill Drive was a big hit. The parade of tots on bikes and scooters, parents, grandparents, strollers, wagons, pups (and even an excellent tortoise named Rotondo) made its way west on Hill Drive and culminated at Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce president Michael Nogueira’s house for a little post-parade shindig. Bob Baker’s Marionettes put on a puppet show and folks got a chance to mingle and talk to neighbors.

Lots of people on social media are reporting that ATT wifi has been out in Eagle Rock for most of the day.
On to events. What’s up this week? Drag Queen Bingo at the Women’s Twentieth Century Club, Eagle Rock’s own The Linda Lindas at the Central Library Centennial Celebration, a bike tour of the Arroyo, and of course lots of good (and some weird) flicks at Vidiots.

The Wailing (2016). From the Vidiots website: “Korean director Na Hong-jin’s ultimate supernatural horror experience, where sinister mystery meets surreal diabolism.” A conversation with the film’s composer, Jang Young-gyu will follow the film. Jang Young-gyu is also the founder of psych-pop band Leenalchi. Only a limited number of walk-up tickets available. 7:30 p.m.

Heavy Metal (1981) Totally weird R-rated animated sci-fi anthology. Vidiots, 9:55 p.m.
Saturday July 11
Central Library Centennial Festival A full day of live music, workshops, author talks, crafts for kids and teens, and a performance by Eagle Rock’s own punk band, The Linda Lindas. The band broke through with their video for Racist, Sexist, Boy which was filmed at the Eagle Rock Branch of the LAPL. The Linda Lindas set is at 3:30 p.m. Click here for the full schedule. Arroyo Seco Exploratory Bike Ride Behind-the-scenes look at existing and proposed water projects in the Arroyo.
